Jesika Sweet
MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Growing up in foster care and later being adopted at an older age, Jeskia Sweet witnessed the challenges of mental health struggles up close and personal. She always knew her calling was to help others through their struggles, though it took time for her to discover that mental health nursing was the path to fulfill that calling. Jeskia has always had a heart and passion for children in foster care and those who support them, as well as for adults facing addiction and mental health challenges.
Jeskia was born in Abilene, Texas, at Dyess Air Force Base before being placed in foster care, where she lived with her sister until the age of eight. In 1994 she moved to Vernon, Texas, and has called it home ever since. She graduated from Vernon High School in 2004 and entered Vernon College as a pre-med student with plans to become a physician. An encounter with an extraordinary nurse soon shifted her path, inspiring her to pursue nursing instead. Jeskia earned her Associate in Nursing from Vernon College in 2011 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M in 2013.
While in school, Jeskia began her career at North Texas State Hospital in 2006 as a mental health worker and worked her way up to Nurse Manager. It was during this time that she met and married her husband, Kirk. Together they are raising four children—three daughters and one son—with another child on the way in October 2025. They are also blessed with a wonderful son-in-law and a granddaughter.
Jeskia earned her Master of Science in Nursing and became a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in 2020 through Midwestern State University. Since then, she has gained experience working with diverse patient populations in multiple settings. Her career includes providing geriatric psychiatric care with Senior Psych Care, serving as a PRN PMHNP in chronic disease management with United Regional Physicians Group, and treating individuals across the lifespan at Red River Hospital. Jeskia’s work spans outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization settings. While she treats patients of all ages, she has particular expertise and passion for complex mental health cases including psychosis, medical comorbidities, and addiction. She finds deep fulfillment in walking alongside individuals who are struggling to find hope and helping them reclaim joy and purpose in their lives.
Outside of work, Jeskia enjoys reading, traveling, and Bible journaling. She is an active member of her church and loves supporting her children in their travel sports and extracurricular activities.
