I spent a little over 22 years at Rose Street Mental Health Care in Wichita Falls, where I gained experience in psychological testing and in individual, family, and group therapy. After earning my LPC in 2007, I became Adolescent Program Director for Rose Street Day Treatment, which provided partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care.
I began going to therapy myself while working on my undergraduate degree, and it completely shifted my focus and my future. The people I learned from at Rose Street gave me my passion for working with adolescents. I treat primarily adolescents and young adults, and I enjoy all aspects of therapy: individual, family, and group. I prefer in-person counseling and I'm happy to offer telehealth if you can't attend in person.
Whole-person care means treating the entire scope of a person. In day treatment I saw the benefit of combining weekly individual and family therapy, daily peer group therapy, medication management, and psychological testing, which gives a full picture that can be missed with weekly therapy alone. I see the glass as half full and try to find the positive in everything. I hope you leave feeling heard and hopeful.
Movement is the pillar that resonates most with me, and not just because I'm an active ADHD individual. Movement can be physical, but it can also be the emotional act of choosing to change how you engage with your world. Outside of work, I love my family (three adult children and a grandson I'm admittedly addicted to), Longhorn football, the show Friends, my two miniature dachshunds, and a jigsaw puzzle always in the works. I can find a pun in almost anything, and I'll announce it.
